BC
BC is a visually stunning game that takes place in a prehistoric
world. Instead of working under the constraints of existing genres,
the designers have taken an entirely new direction. The end result
is one of the most innovative games I've seen on Xbox.
In BC, you align with a tribe of prehistoric humans. But rather
than directly controlling them, you guide these cavemen on an evolutionary
path. For example, if your group goes out to hunt or gather food,
why not show them how to use rocks as tools? Your level of influence
is quite expansive, encompassing everything from simple tools to
tactics and weapons. In the end, your goal is simple: keep your
tribe alive and help them to advance socially and technologically.
In keeping with the underlying theme of advancement, the game is
built around a central goal: climb a mountain and settle peacefully
in the underlying valley on the other side. This journey mirrors
your tribe's gradual evolution.
BC is by far and away one of the most graphically impressive games
I've ever seen and the prehistoric scenery is quite beautiful. Furthermore,
virtually everything in the gameworld can be manipulated or interacted
with in some way. Naturally, BC is chock-full of creatures, many
of them dangerous and all of which exhibit an impressive level of
AI (artificial intelligence).
BC has the potential to be a classic. Look out for it on Xbox sometime
next year.
